How to fax the VA with FaxItIn
- Put everything in one PDF: the VA form, plus any evidence (buddy statements, private medical records, discharge papers).
- Put your identifying details at the top of each page: your full name and your VA file number or Social Security number. Pages can be separated during scanning, and this makes sure each one lands in your file.
- Go to faxit.in, upload the PDF and enter 844-531-7818. No account is needed.
- Check the price and pay. It's $3.49 for up to 5 pages, plus $0.25 for each extra page, up to 30 pages per fax. Your card is charged only if the fax is delivered.
- Save your tracking link. The delivery confirmation shows the date the VA received your fax. Dates matter in VA claims, so keep it.
Your document is deleted from our systems once the fax is delivered. We never keep a copy of your records.
Tips for faxing VA claims
- More than 30 pages? Split them into several faxes, and label each one ("Part 1 of 2").
- Faint scans fax poorly. Scan in black and white at a high contrast, and avoid photos of pages taken at an angle.
- Keep your originals. Fax only copies, and keep the originals somewhere safe.
- Consider VA.gov. Many claim forms can also be filed and evidence uploaded through your VA.gov account. Fax is useful when you have paper documents or a form that's easier to sign by hand.
Frequently asked questions
Is 844-531-7818 the right VA fax number for an appeal? That number is for compensation claims and evidence. Appeals (Higher-Level Review, Supplemental Claim, Board Appeal) use their own forms and may list their own submission details. Check the instructions on your form or decision letter.
How long does the VA take to process a fax? Your FaxItIn tracking link confirms when the VA's fax machine received every page. Scanning it into your claim can take additional days. Check your claim status on VA.gov.
Can I fax medical records to the VA? Yes. Private medical records supporting your claim can be faxed to the Evidence Intake Center with your name and VA file number on each page.
